Michael Work & Associates was established in 1988 first opening offices in Los Angeles, with our Miami Beach office opening in 2001. The firm has extensive experience representing aliens with “extraordinary abilities” in the arts, athletics, business, entertainment, and the sciences, and has represented many individuals, foreign investors, traders, and multinational corporations with various immigrant and nonimmigrant visa matters, including employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions (e.g., H-1B, E and L visas), family-based visa petitions and PERM-based immigrant petitions.

Michael Work

Managing Attorney

Michael L. Work began his career in immigration and naturalization covering immigration for (then) U.S. Senator Lawton Chiles of Florida during the “Cuban flotilla”. He first practiced immigration law in Louisiana with Lawrence Fabacher before relocating to Los Angeles with Barst & Mukamal, and opening The Law Offices of Michael L. Work in 1988. His practice in Los Angeles involved representation of many multinational corporations in banking, entertainment, and technology, and he gained a particular expertise in representing aliens with extraordinary abilities in the arts, athletics, business, entertainment, and the sciences. Michael returned to his home state of Florida in 2000 with offices on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. 

Michael is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law in 1984 and admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1985.  He has been a Member of the Louisiana Bar Association and American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1985, serving as a panelist and Speaker many times in his specialty, individuals with “extraordinary abilities”, and on AILA liaison committees with USCIS and CBP.

Luca Violi is a licensed attorney in New York and Italy.

Luca Violi practices in all areas of U.S. business immigration law representing and assisting businesses, start-up companies, investors and entrepreneurs who want to establish or expand their business in the United States. Additionally, he has experience assisting clients with various immigrant and nonimmigrant visa matters, including cases involving individuals with extraordinary abilities, employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions (e.g., H-1B and L visas), family-based visa petitions and PERM-based immigrant petitions.

After graduating from Law School at the University of Reggio Calabria (Italy), he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Brooklyn Law School. Luca was admitted to practice law by the state of New York in 2018 and since that date has practiced immigration (federal) law nationally.

Luana Carolina Rohde

Foreign Attorney (Brazil)

Luana Carolina Rohde is an attorney admitted to practice law in Brazil and a Member of the Brazilian Bar Association. Luana has experience preparing U.S. employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, as well as family-based visa petitions.

Prior to joining Michael Work & Associates, P.A, Luana worked as a municipal attorney focusing on cases concerning violence against women and served as an intern for the Family and Succession Court in Brazil.

Luana earned a law degree from the State University of West Paraná – Brazil in 2019,  and in 2021 completed a postgraduate degree in Applied Constitutional Law. Luana was also awarded an (U.S.) Immigration Law Specialist Certificate from the Washington Technical Institute.
